Just as a newborn takes its first breath, ragged and afraid, sharp and quick, sometimes we will find ourselves in a trial where we do not even realize we stopped breathing. And that last breath was too quick, too sharp, to provide us with the oxygen necessary to live if we do not find for ourselves the next breath.
At this point in my life, I was hoping to have achieved a lot more, and have a greater portion of my life “figured out”. I do not. And it weighs heavy on my heart.
In this way, we gather, enjoy each other's company, share good things, have a few laughs, and for a brief time forget about the everyday cares that weigh heavy on our hearts the rest of the week. It's a time of fellowship, on a Friday, and it's good for the heart, mind, and soul. It's Friday Fellowship. Welcome.
As we turn the page on this October week and head into the final two months of 2019, I am being purposeful to slow down and look around me, take deeper, slower breaths, and feel every moment I experience in as many new and exciting ways as possible. Come with me this weekend as I share with you a few of my favorite things and see all the wonders you can experience yourself as you allow yourself permission to dream.
There is a clock somewhere in this room. I can hear it ticking away the seconds. But I don't see it. The Willow Tree is a safe place to bring our cares and lay them down. The swing is the place we can get to when we are ready to be free of our burdens and risk living through the hurt. The branches will protect us from others, no one can bother us here. The wind is the Spirit of the Lord, giving height to our wings so we can fly into the top of the tree. The Lord is here, ready to hear our prayers, our hearts, our tears. And God is above it all.
